Snider Fleet Solutions Sells First TWEEL to End User

On Tuesday, July 24, 2012, our company and Michelin made commercial tire history. Snider`s Industrial Tire expert, Ken Hinson, along with Jack Olney, Michelin`s Key Account Manager, called on Bakery Feeds in Marshville, NC, to introduce a new product - the TWEEL - that had never been sold to commercial end users. The TWEEL is a combination of a tire and wheel assembly into one airless design.

Bakery Feed`s Fleet Shop Supervisor, Jamie Smith, liked what he saw and purchased four (4) of the 12N16.6 X-TWEEL SSL`s, making Snider Fleet Solutions the first commercial sale to an end user anywhere in the world.

In 1995, engineers at the Michelin Technology Center in Greenville, S.C. envisioned a future where vehicles would be able to be driven without experiencing a flat due to loss of air. Over the following decade, the engineers worked diligently on various prototypes of the Tweel and in 2005, the Tweel was finally showcased at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, on the iBOT wheelchair and Segway Concept Centaur Human Transporter. The innovation resulted in recognition by TIME Magazine as "One of the Most Amazing Inventions of 2005," by Popular Science magazine as one of the "100 Most Innovative Products of the Year," and by the InnoVision Hall of Fame.

Kudos to Snider Fleet Solutions for bringing in new innovations to meet their customer`s needs! Click on links below to learn more about the TWEEL.
